Venus rx and harnessing yang
I find myself at the edge of the rose hedge again, the one that soothed my tender heart last summer and generously offered me her medicine to share.
She is brilliantly full, wafting intoxicating fragrance and I can’t help but slow and down delight in the tangles of abundance.
We associate the rose with Venus, especially the 5 petaled wild rose as it symbolizes the 5 pointed star Venus draws in the night sky over 8 years. As I am sure you have heard, Venus will station retrograde on July 22nd-September 3rd in the sign of Leo, the heart of summer.
I have been playing with the idea of harnessing Yang energy. Yang is defined as: the active male (biological not gender) principle of the universe, creative and associated with heaven, heat, and light. Yang is at its ultimate height during the summertime and is typically when our schedules are full of activity. Have you ever had the feeling of, “where did summer go?” by mid September as fall begins to creep in?
This summer I have decided to harness the heat and aliveness of yang energy instead of expelling it to the point of exhaustion. I want to allow my heart center to be tended like a hearth fire, a steady heat that radiates and warms but doesn’t burn. I want to slow down and dance with the magic of life. With Venus retrograde, I am even more into this idea. How the heat, natural creativity, and desire of Venus in Leo can be turned inward as a practice of tending the hearth of the heart and in turn, helping me to navigate the relationships I keep. Who do we allow to warm themselves at our fire?
Perhaps settle in with rose infused teas and lemonades as you ponder these ideas for yourself. Please do let me know what comes up.

P.S. rose has cooling properties so feels nice if we tend towards feeling overheated and can provide care for the emotional intelligence/nature of our hearts. ♥️
